Exclusive Day Tour

If you want to experience "the real deal" dog sledding, this is for you! Exclusive private tour on the dog sled around the mountains of Valnesfjord, with the veiws of stunning Sjunkhatten National Park and Skjerstadfjorden. 

Let our dogs bring you from 0 to 400 meters above sea level on a 20 km long dog sled tour. The guide will steer the sled the most, and you can relax and enjoy the beautiful nature and views along the way. If the conditions are good, you get to try steering yourself as well. 

We make a lunch bag for you, and you get to eat lunch and drink coffee/tea at the highest point of the tour. The tour is made for adventurous nature-loving people that seek authentic wildlife experiences. You will get to learn about huskies, dog sledding, Norwegian wildlife culture and traditions for wilderness life in Northern Norway. There are chances of seeing moose or reindeer during the sledding.

This tour is for 2 people only. Solo travellers can book two tickets to get this private tour. You need to be healthy and normally fit to book this tour as it is a long day on the sled in winter conditions.The tour includes lunch, drinks and pick up and drop off in Fauske or Bodø.

Limited number of tickets. Season for this tour goes from end of february to end of april due to weather and snow conditions. 

What to expect?

  • A tour of the kennel, review on the dog sledding equipment and prepping the dog team
  • Borrow extra clothes if needed
  • Dog sledding with guide approximately 3-4 hours. You will have the chance to stear the sled yourself along the way and we are happy to take photos of you
  • Meet our dogs in the kennel after and find your favorite. You can also give them snacks
  • We will make a norwegian lunch bag for your tour and offer you hot drinks.
  • We carry a toilet that can be used before/after the sledding. There are no restrooms along the tour.

How to get there? 

  • Pick up/drop of at your prefered location Bodø/Fauske. 
  • Meet on location: We have free parking in our kennel if you drive yourself. For your GPS: Kosmovassveien 219, 8215 Valnesfjord
  • Train: The train from Bodø to Valnesfjord takes 30 minutes. We can pick you up and drop you off at the train station, it's a 7 minute drive from our kennel. Train tickets can be provided at www.vy.no or on ticket automats at the station.

What to wear?

Sitting on the sled can be very cold and we recommend to wear warm winter clothes:

- Woolen underwear
- Middle layer in fleece or wool
- Thick jacket and trousers
- Wool socks and warm winter shoes
- Thick mittens/gloves
- Hat and buff/scarf

We also have warm clothing to borrow. Please let us know in advance and we will have clothing ready for you. This activity is not recommended in jeans and sneakers!

Other information

No experience dog sledding is needed, but you need to be normally fit and able to walk in snow. This tour is not recommended for people with health issues as it's a long day sitting on the sled in cold conditions. Max weight per person is 110 kg/220 lbs as it's a demanding tour for the dogs and the guide.
